Santosh Kumar Gupta, an alumnus of The Doon School and the NDA, was commissioned into the Indian Navy in 1958, specialising in naval aviation. Serving aboard INS Vikrant for 13 years, he earned gallantry awards during the 1971 Indo-Pak War, commanding Sea Hawks strike force. Gupta later commanded ships, including INS Vikrant, retiring as Rear Admiral in Dec 1990.
